Vacation Bible School
This year's successful VBS was held June 22 - 26, 2009. Over 125 children enjoyed a fun-filled week of activities, music and learning about the Bible. More than 75 youth and adults provided support with decorations, food, registration, music, games, crafts, the Bible story, the nursery, and as "Bayou Crew" leaders. The directors were Suzanne Wray and Kay Olson. The Closing Program was Friday evening, June 26, 2009, where the children shared their week through music. Refreshments were served afterwards in Ettenger Hall where a slide-show highlighted the great memories from VBS.
The 2009 VBS Mission Project was Nothing But Nets. This is a global grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a deadly, but preventable disease. Every $10 donation goes directly toward the purchase, distribution and education about the proper use of a long-lasting insecticide-treated bed net. Bed nets stop mosquitoes from biting and spreading the disease, while the insecticide on the net kills the mosquitoes when they land on it. Send a net. Save a life. The VBS children and families collected over $500 for this project!
